WELCOME
TO THE CIFFL! |
|

|
|
The Catholic Inter-Parish Flag Football League (CIFFL)
was established in 1998 as a sports ministry in
the Archdiocese to bring together Catholic young
adults in the form of a coed flag football
league. The inaugural 1998 CIFFL season
consisted of four teams which has now grown into
a field of 15 teams for the 2003 CIFFL season
from various parishes in the Archdiocese of
Atlanta.

Volunteers for the
DS Walking Trail on December 7th! ...more
pics |
| |
| On Sunday, December 7th, the ACS Flag Football league is putting on a very special community service project at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School. We are planning to complete the task of putting in a wood chip walking track around the field that we used this season. This is an important event for our organization and league as community service projects are of high importance in everything we do as an
organization. We believe the success of this event will open up doors at other facilities in the area as word on good deeds do spread fast and our organization needs more facilities such as Dunwoody Springs for the benefit of our organization success.
Therefore, we ask at least TWO people or more per team pledge their time and come out to for the success of this cause. The rainout date for the event is set for Sunday, December 14th.
The schedule for the event is follows:
- The event starts at 10:00 a.m. at Dunwoody Springs
- Bring your boots, shovels and rakes to start spreading wood chips onto the track
- Pictures for ACS web site and GA Bulletin at noon
- Pizza or some other food at noon
- We will give away a few of our new ACS t-shirts during the event!
- Wrap-up at 2:00 p.m. for start of Pro Bowl II |

Due to an overwhelming interest in having another Pro
Bowl, we are going to do it again! Following the community service event, the game is set for 2:00. Rainout is scheduled for Dec. 14th.
Here is how it works:
- Captains of the teams will solicit votes (via e-mail) from all team members to select three players of the team that have made significant contributions, i.e., players that best represent your team. It could be on the merits of athletic ability, team spirit, team leadership, most improved player, etc. Your superlatives are subjective to your own team. At least one male and one female, the other selection can be either gender. It recommended that this be a blind vote, no reply all!! This way, only captains know who is selected.
- Tally the votes and submit them back to Gina Gianfagna no later than Nov. 27th. Reply to this e-mail(gina4fsu@bellsouth.net)
- We will then determine, based on tourney seeding, how to divide up the teams. We were thinking of having the "Franciscans" play the "Dominicans," however, please chime in if you have any other ideas for team names.
- Once the tally is in, Gina Gianfagna will send an e-mail out of who plays for which team. |

First CIFFL Pro Bowl!
The CIFFL had its inaugural
CIFFL Pro Bowl game on February 9th, 2002. The Pro
Bowl was played at Sequoiu Park which took place after the
opening day of the Catholic Inter-Parish Soccer League (CSL)
games.
Each team was given the
opportunity to select one male and one female
participant from their respective teams. Each team
was placed onto one of the two CIFFL Pro Bowl teams, the
light and the dark. The CIFFL Pro Bowl Light Team
was made up of players from St. Jude Gold, CTK Blue, CTK
Green, Mary Our Queen Black, CTK Orange and CTK
Burgundy. The CIFFL Pro Bowl Dark Team was made up
of players from St. Brigid Gray, Holy Spirit Red, Holy
Spirit Purple, All Parish White, TEC Teal and CTK Sky
Blue.
A tremendous
effort goes to Gina Gianfagna of St.
Brigid Gray for organizing the
first ever Pro Bowl and special thanks
to Rob Thompson of
the CSL for helping get a field to
play on! Pictured above are the
participants in the first ever CIFFL Pro Bowl!

2002
CIFFL CHAMPIONSHIP |
 |
| This years final four teams consisted of St. Jude Gold,
CTK Burgundy, TEC Teal and St. Brigid Gray. The
number four seed and defending CIFFL champions St. Jude
Gold matched up against the number eight seed CTK
Burgundy. The number three seeded St. Brigid Gray matched
up with the number two seeded TEC Teal. After some
very close first round games and with the upset of the
tourney, the number eight seed CTK Burgundy knocking off
the number one seed CTK Sky Blue, the field of four was
set!
The prevailing teams in both semi-final games were
the number three seeded St. Brigid Gray and the number
four seeded St. Jude Gold. After St. Jude Gold
four consecutive CIFFL championship titles, St. Brigid
Gray knew they had there hands full even though the had
the higher seed and beat the St. Jude's team in the
regular season. With timely plays and no room
for error, St. Brigid Gray controlled the tempo from the
start by taking an early lead and never looking
back. St. Jude Gold made a late come back attempt but it
was too late for the strong St. Brigid Gray team. The final score
was St. Brigid Gray 35 and St. Jude Gold 18.
Pictured above is the St. Brigid Gray team right after
their CIFFL Championship victory!. |
